What’s the Tea with Dr Liam Hill? Movement, Sculpture, and the Occasional Hamstring Mishap
If you’ve been around Cottesloe Chiropractic Centre lately, you may have heard whispers of a new series we’re calling “What’s the Tea with Dr Liam Hill?”, a little behind-the-scenes look at what’s happening in the clinic, the community, and occasionally…in my own slightly questionable athletic decisions.
Let’s start with the big one: Sculpture by the Sea is back at Cottesloe Beach, and if you haven’t been yet, it’s absolutely worth the walk.
Thousands of people head down to the coast each year to explore the sculptures along the shoreline, and while the art is incredible, what we love most about the event is something a little different.
It gets people moving.
And if there’s one thing we’re passionate about at Cottesloe Chiropractic Centre, it’s movement.
The Love of Movement Campaign
This month at the centre, we’ve been talking a lot about our “Love of Movement” campaign. It’s a simple idea with a powerful message:
Your body is designed to move, and when it moves well, it feels better.
Chiroplus
Whether it’s walking along the coast during Sculpture by the Sea, playing sport on the weekend, or just being able to get through your workday without stiffness or pain, movement is one of the most important drivers of health.
At Cottesloe Chiropractic Centre, our approach combines:
Chiropractic care to improve spinal function and joint mobility
Rehabilitation exercises to build strength and resilience
Movement education so your body stays strong long after your appointment
This is exactly why we offer our ChiroPlus appointments — a combination of chiropractic treatment and targeted rehabilitation exercises designed to help you recover faster and move better.
It’s the sweet spot between treatment and training.
Confession Time: The Hamstring Incident
Make it stand out
Now, in the spirit of honesty… I should probably admit something.
Over the weekend I pulled my hamstring.
Not during a marathon.
Not playing football.
No.
I managed to strain it attempting one too many splits.
Apparently, my enthusiasm for mobility exceeded my hamstring’s current flexibility capacity. Lesson learned.
But this actually highlights something we see all the time in clinic:
Even people who love movement (or think they’re more flexible than they are) can benefit from the right balance of mobility, strength, and recovery.
Injury prevention isn’t just about stretching more — it’s about training your body properly.
Which is exactly where chiropractic care and rehab work together.
Why Chiropractic + Rehab Works
Many people think chiropractic is just about “getting an adjustment.”
But modern chiropractic care is much broader than that.
At Cottesloe Chiropractic Centre, we focus on helping patients:
Reduce pain and stiffness
Improve mobility and posture
Recover from sports injuries
Prevent recurring issues
Build stronger, more resilient bodies
This approach is something that’s especially important to me because I’m currently studying to become a physiotherapist as well.
The overlap between chiropractic and physiotherapy is huge. Both professions aim to help people move better, recover from injury, and stay active for life.
Combining hands-on treatment with rehabilitation exercises gives patients the best of both worlds.
Exciting News: Meet Helena, Our New Massage Therapist
Another exciting update at the clinic is that we’ve welcomed Helena, our new massage therapist, to the Cottesloe Chiropractic Centre team.
Helena has recently relocated from New Zealand and brings years of experience in remedial massage therapy. Her treatments are fantastic for:
Muscle tension and tightness
Sports recovery
Improving circulation and mobility
Supporting chiropractic care and rehabilitation
Massage therapy can be an excellent complement to chiropractic treatment, helping muscles relax so joints can move more freely.
Plus, if your hamstrings ever feel like mine did after those attempted splits… Helena is definitely someone you’ll want to see.
Keep Moving, Cottesloe
The takeaway from all of this is simple:
Movement is one of the most powerful tools we have for staying healthy.
But when movement becomes painful, restricted, or injury-prone, that’s where the right support can make a huge difference.
At Cottesloe Chiropractic Centre, we’re here to help you:
✔ Move better
✔ Recover from injury
✔ Build strength and resilience
✔ Stay active doing the things you love
